PRODUCTIONS
DIRECTOR

I have always been passionate about being an editor and director but since I have already had many opportunities to explore my editing skills I wanted to take a chance at being a director in this project. I have been following the artistic style and structure of Riverdale for some time now and I fell in love with the director’s work who is in fact Rob Seidenglanz. As a Director I have to take charge of;

  • Casting

  • Creating style

  • Structure

  • Script editing

  • Guiding the crew

  • Creating the dramatic aspect

  • Working alongside the editor and making sure the producer is happy with the outcomes

  •

  • A Director is very important during a shoot, I have to decide in what looks good and what doesn’t. I have to make sure that I’m taking charge and that everyone in the team is happy. As a film director I have to control the film’s artistic and dramatic aspect and visualize the screenplay while guiding the crew in the fulfilment of that vision. The director always has a key role in choosing cast and crew members, production designs, and the creative aspect of filmmaking. I have to make sure that during each shoot I overshadow the DOP and finalize every shot that is being film, keeping my visual in place. I always make a shot list and a document to where I can see exactly of what I want shot and how it should be in- cooperated into the overall film.

  •

  • Once all the filming has been done, I must preside over the completion of the work during the post-production – this is where I work alongside the editor. I usually leave the editor to do whatever they feel is write, if they need help I will step in and make decision but when the product has been edited I will either make changes or provide feedback. The pre- production has 4 principal areas to focus on, editing, visual effects, music and sound. All of these were key within our project and I have to make sure that the overall film is visually interesting and the sound is spot on! Me being a Director I have to convey instructions to supervisor in each of these groups, I have to have a post-filmic treatment affecting the overall appearance of work.

  •

  • I have always looked up to Quentin Tarantino and his work as well as David Fincher’s work, they are both visual Directors and create fantastic work. More than most of these directors, Fincher has spent his entire career taking the
    components of everyday existence and dissecting

    them to the point of obsession. After all, it’s not uncommon for him to shoot 40 plus takes of a scene which is very inspirational. He always colour grades his scene, making sure they fit the dramatic scenes. Whereas Quentin Tarantino has a different style of directing compared to Fincher, he is more subtle and is able to make plain and day conversations incredibly interesting.
